Film and Photographic Location
If you are looking for an outstanding media location in the Kent countryside, then look no further than Chiddingstone Castle, only an hour’s drive from Central London (and 15 minutes from junctions 5 and 6 of the M25).
With its spectacular rural setting, superb backdrops and relaxed atmosphere, the Castle is an ideal choice for a photo shoot, promotional video, documentary, television or feature film.
Inside, the Castle has beautifully appointed period rooms, while outside the Historic House is surrounded by 35 acres of peaceful grounds, comprising parkland, woodlands, a lake and a recently restored Victorian Orangery.
The Castle is adjacent to the beautiful 14th century National Trust village of Chiddingstone with its row of remarkable Tudor dwellings and the ancient parish church of St Mary. The village itself has been the setting for a number of feature films, including A Room With A View (1985) and Wind In The Willows (1996).
The Castle is able to provide onsite catering to suit every budget and can recommend accommodation close by. Secure storage for equipment is also available.
Filming at the Castle over recent years has included BBC’s Flog It!,Bargain Hunt and Celebrity Antiques Road Trip; with special features on BBC South East Today and Inside Out. Productions filmed at the Castle for Channel 4 include Heston Blumenthal’s Fantastical Foods and How To Look Good Naked; and for Pett Productions on BBC3 Tittybangbang.
In 2013 the Castle was used as the stage for Monsoon’s Autumn/Winter 2013/2014 children’s clothing shoot, where a real-life unicorn was filmed under an oak tree and the White Rose Drawing Room was transformed into a winter wonderland complete with silver tree and (fake) snow!
“Thank you! We miss you! And the lovely castle. The shoot went so well and Mary and I send you a very heart felt thank you. We couldn’t have done it without you! The food was delicious, the castle beautiful and you made the three days so easy. A complete pleasure.”
