Learning and Fun - Families

We have a hands on approach to learning where children can participate in activities relating to the Collections.

In addition to our increasingly popular themed family days out, we offer a wide range of arts and crafts to entertain and capture the imagination of our younger visitors.  These are available each day we are open and have included: dressing up as an ancient Egyptian, designing a Victorian peg doll, building a pyramid or making an origami Samurai helmet.  The type of activities change regularly and all of the materials, instructions and information are provided.

We have an ongoing commitment to encourage children in the creative discovery of objects within the Castle itself and outside in the grounds.  Our spotter sheets, which are free with entry to the house, come with a prize for each child upon completion.

Throughout the autumn and winter we continue our children's activity days and have exciting new plans for a varied programme of events in 2010.  Our activity days are free with normal entry charges or a family season pass and there is no need to book in advance.  The feedback from visitors this season is that Chiddingstone Castle offers exceptional value for family days out.
